Lebanese Democratic Party chief MP Talal Erslan stressed that the recent events that took place in Aley are not acceptable, noting that “the state’s responsibility and authority as well as coexistence and civil peace are under threat.”
Following a meeting with Prime Minister Saad Hariri at the Grand Serail, accompanied by Minister Saleh al-Gharib, Erslan said that “a small number of suspects has been handed over so far,” explaining that what happened was not a dispute, but the road was blocked in front of the convoy of a minister, whose private vehicle was hit with 19 gunshots.
“We are open to all solutions,” he said, adding that Hariri is keen on the role played by Maj. Gen. Abbas Ibrahim, hoping to reach satisfying results.
The MP reiterated that they support the right judicial course, which lies in referring to case to the Judicial Council.
In a related context, LDP sources told LBCI that all analyses and statements issued prior to the completion of the investigations and announcing results, only confirm the involvement of the other party in the assassination attempt of Minister al-Gharib.
