MP Bilal Abdallah announced Tuesday that the Democratic Gathering will vote in favor of the budget, noting that the bloc has to comply with the budget in a bid to help avoid any collapse and to support the economic. “We hope that our proposals will be taken into consideration,” he added.
“The current budget was drafted under the pressure posed by risks of economic collapse and nothing else,” he stated.
During the parliament session held to discuss the budget, MP Abdallah stressed the need to shift toward a secular state, noting that this would be the only way to fight corruption.
“I don’t understand how the state exempts religious men from taxes when they practice their religious rituals and I do not know why we fail to provide funds for the Lebanese University at the same time refuse to impose taxes on private universities,” he continued.
