Jreissati: No solution for garbage crisis without waste sorting at source

Minister of Environment Fadi Jreissati said on Wednesday that the waste burning is a crime and the state is responsible for the current situation of the garbage dossier, stressing the need to reach a solution to this crisis.

Jreissati’s comments were made during a dialogue on the solid waste plan whereby he said that the plan is based on decentralization, pointing out that the municipal police will be trained to be an environmental police.

He concluded by stressing that there is no solution of the garbage crisis in Lebanon without the implementation of waste sorting at source.
