Macron stresses France’s commitment to Lebanon’s stability and security during phone call with Hariri

Prime Minister Saad Hariri received a phone call from French President Emmanuel Macron, during which the latter voiced his relief over the progress achieved in launching the Cedre investment projects during the meeting held between the French envoy Pierre Duquesne and Hariri.

Macron also stressed France’s commitment to Lebanon’s stability and security and to supporting the Lebanese institutions, emphasizing the need to ensure the restoration of calm at the southern borders.

In turn, Hariri thanked Macron on the efforts deployed to contain the escalation triggered by Israel’s attack on Beirut’s southern suburb, expressing Lebanon’s gratitude to the leadership role played by France in extending the mandate of the UNIFIL. He stressed Lebanon’s continued commitment to the UN resolution 1701.

The two officials also discussed means to speed up the implementation of reforms and investment projects in Lebanon, as well as means to boost stability in Lebanon and the region during their upcoming meeting scheduled for September 20 in Paris.
