Minister al-Hassan to LBCI: No delay in extinguishing fires, strong winds helped in renewing them
Minister of Interior Rayya al-Hassan asserted to LBCI on Tuesday that there is no delay in extinguishing the fires that are ravaging the country.
The minister added however that "the strong winds contributed to the renewal of the blazes."
“Two Cypriot airplanes took off from the airport to extinguish the fires,” al-Hassan noted.

The minister’s comments were made during a phone call with LBCI whereby she said that she called Minister of Defense Elias Bou Saab and requested the assistance of the army and the Internal Security Forces in extinguishing the fires.
Al-Hassan also noted that the helicopters that Lebanon purchased long time ago to extinguish such fires are no longer suitable for use due to the lack of maintenance.
This as the minister later announced via her Twitter account that an operating room was established in the Grand Serail and another mobile one on the ground to follow up on the extinguishing of the fires.
