The Union of the Syndicates of Bank Employees issued a statement on Monday whereby it declared a strike to be held by the banking sector, calling on the employees to suspend work starting Tuesday, November 12, until calm is restored in order for the banking sector to resume normal operations.
The statement, which was issued after an emergency meeting held earlier on Monday, said that “the banking sector witnessed over the past week unstable situation that led to unacceptable working conditions, especially after the employees were subject to insults and attacks by the depositors, as well as the chaos at several bank branches, raising fear and concerns within the colleagues who continued performing their duties.”
