Hariri: Pope’s visit to Lebanon is a huge and exceptional event

Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri said on Saturday that the visit of Pope Benedict XVI to Lebanon is a “huge and exceptional event” for Lebanon and all the Lebanese.

“I am sure the Pope’s visit to Lebanon will convince the Lebanese of the civilized and humanitarian nature of their country as well as its role in the Middle East; it will also highlight the importance of coexistence that was and must remain stronger than all the difficulties that beset this country”, Hariri said in a statement.

Hariri said that this visit will reinforce the “already privileged relation” between Lebanon and the Vatican which is based on justice, equality and freedom.
