LBCI: Diversity is one of our foundations

The administration of LBCI issued the following statement:
 
LBCI, known for it’s objective, credible and accurate news reporting, relies in its newsroom on a group of professional journalists and media figures who have diversified opinions and tendencies, who truly reflect Lebanon and the different orientations of its citizens.
 
LBCI has always raised the slogan of “all colors كل الألوان”, and this diversity is one of the foundations of its editorial policies and news coverage.
 
Based on these convictions, LBCI stresses on the mutual respect among its co-workers and the acceptance of different and diverse point of views and considers both as necessary and ethical.
 
The principles adopted by LBCI are an integral part of its conviction in the sanctity and indivisibility of freedom of expression and the support of the rights of the Lebanese people and their freedom to criticize who they want, including the President of the Republic of Lebanon. This also implies on the journalists working among its team.
 
LBCI affirms that one of the pillars of journalism is for journalists to verify the authenticity and credibility of the information they publish. It also stresses the need to attribute this information to specific sources (whether the source is named or not), especially if the journalist who is publishing the information was not present or did not witness what he/she is publishing.
 
The above is applicable to the news published in the media outlet where he/she works in and to his/her social media accounts. These journalistic principles are the best way to fight rumors and "fake news” and to prevent any feeding of the conspiracy theories being circulated.
 
LBCI, in the heart of the revolution that is taking place in Lebanon against corruption and for freedom, considers that overreacting to the loss of material matter is inappropriate. The Lebanese people are losing martyrs in the revolution, and they deserve the full respect from LBCI and its workers.
