MP Abi Ramia to LBCI: The Strong Lebanon bloc has not yet officially nominated Samir al-Khatib

Member of the Strong Lebanon bloc MP Simon Abi Ramia declared Saturday that the bloc has not yet officially nominated Samir al-Kahtib for prime minister, noting that there still ambiguity over the Sunni political cover provided for al-Khatib.

In a statement to LBCI’s Nharkom Said, Abi Ramia stressed that the position of the bloc in this regard remains open on all options and will be determined in line with its convictions and in accordance with the national interest.

“We live in a disaster and we still talk about the traditional approach to form a government and power sharing,” he said, calling for putting an end to the irresponsible method in managing public affairs and stressing that rescuing the country cannot happen without forming a cabinet.

In the same context, the deputy emphasized that the new cabinet will be facing the most dangerous political and economic phases, noting that this is why it must gain the people’s trust and guarantee international confidence.

“Yes it is true that we failed to fulfill our promises and hopes that we placed in terms of economic and financial challenges,” he added.
