Jumblatt: Relations with Hariri family stand above differences

The Progressive Socialist Party explained Wednesday that the meeting between the party’s leader MP Walid Jumblatt and former PM Saad Hariri took place after a period of disruption imposed by the past political circumstances. The relations between the two state men were interrupted following the formation of Mikati’s government.      

In a statement, the PSP said that the meeting was “friendly”, and Jumblatt stressed that his political relationship and friendship with the Hariri family remains above all disagreements and disputes. “Our relation goes back to the days of late Rafik Hariri and continue with Saad Hariri”, Jumblatt said.      

The meeting constituted an occasion to discuss the different Lebanese issues and according to the statement, Hariri and Jumblatt agreed on almost everything. Regionally, they both stressed the necessity to support the Syrian revolution by all means.        

On another note, and according to the statement, the two state men discussed the ranks and salaries scale. Jumblatt stressed that it will have “adverse effects” if approved without serious administrative reforms and without providing sufficient financial revenues.
