Mufti of Tripoli Sheikh Malek al-Shaar said on Wednesday that yesterday’s events in the northern city of Tripoli come as a result of the recent tensions and reactions.

“The people are angry of officials because they are not aware of their demands,” the mufti added during an interview with Nharkom Said TV show.

Moreover, he reveled that he contacted Lebanese Armed Forces Commander Major General Joseph Aoun and requested from him to release those who were arrested considering that “their behavior was not responsible.”

“I also demanded the re-opening of all cut off roads,” he added.
