Hitti reiterates from Saudi Arabia commitment to Arab peace initiative
Minister of Foreign Affairs Nassif Hitti reiterated on Monday Lebanon’s commitment to the Arab peace initiative that was approved at the Arab League summit held in Beirut in 2002.
Hitti’s comments were during a speech delivered at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia whereby he said that the meeting comes at a historic moment in the course of the Palestinian cause and the Israeli-Arab conflict, “because it carries many challenges and repercussions on the Palestinian, Arab, Islamic and International levels. "
The minister started his speech by thanking Saudi Arabia for its role “in supporting the Palestinian Cause and its leading role in the service of the joint Arab and Islamic work.”

He also said that the suggestions and ideas made under the titles of peace achievement are solutions based on “a quasi-Palestinian statelet with incomplete sovereignty and on some Palestinian lands, seeking to add legitimacy to the occupation and ignore legal principles and International resolutions.”
“We are always open to hearing all proposals," he concluded by saying.
