Finance Minister Wazni meets World Bank delegation

Minister of Finance Ghazi Wazni met on Friday with a World Bank delegation headed by regional director for the Middle East Saroj Kumar Jha.

Following the meeting, the envoy reiterated the WB’s support to Lebanon in terms of creating "better job opportunities for the Lebanese people and expanding the horizon of investments in various sectors," through projects funded in cooperation with the World Bank, especially those related to health, education and electricity.

"The government of Lebanon must put forward a very ambitious program of reforms related to fiscal, banking and electricity issues,” he said.

“They must also consider how to support the poor and the most vulnerable people in Lebanon, because as the WB estimates, the number of people under the poverty line has significantly increased,” the official stressed.
