Ministers protest over not being invited to welcome Angelina Jolie

Cabinet convened on Wednesday at the Grand Serail with 65 items on its agenda.

During the cabinet session which convened on Wednesday, the ministers listened to Minister Gebran Bassil’s proposal about the results of the bid regarding the increase of the capacity of 260 megawatts in both power plants of Zouk and Jiyeh.

In his opening statement, Prime Minister Najib Mikati said that ministers will review, the increase in political officials' salaries which is included in the ranks and salaries pay-scale manner. He noted that the cabinet is expected to convene in three sessions next week, Monday and Wednesday in Baabda, and Tuesday at the Grand Serail to tackle this issue.

Mikati lauded the LAF’s achievement s during the past few days, regarding the efforts deployed in order to release the four Syrian detainees and the Turkish hostage, praising all efforts deployed by Interior Minister Marwan Charbel and the director general of General Security Maj. Gen. Abbas Ibrahim.

On the other hand, Mikati hailed the visit of the Pope Benedict XVI to Lebanon, hoping that it will bring peace and a beginning for the return of real partnership between the people of the Middle East.

Separately, the ministers protested over not being invited to participate in the reception of American actress Angelina Jolie.
