Meeting to condemn anti-Muslim film upon the call of Muslim Scholars

In condemnation of “Innocence of Muslims”, the YouTube film that offended Islam and Prophet Mohammed, a meeting was held on Tuesday upon the call of the Association of Muslim Scholars in Lebanon.

Participants stressed the necessity to unite against all attempts to offend holy sites, highlighting the importance of solidarity between Muslims and Christians.They considered that the US Administration should hold top accountability for this offense, urging it to bear the negative consequences of its actions in case it did not take practical steps to put an end to this “humiliation”.

The participants praised the initiative of Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour who called on the Arab foreign ministers to hold a meeting in order to take a joint stance on the film.

Earlier on Tuesday, reports emerged stating that unidentified people opened fire during a protest held on Monday evening in Beirut's Southern Suburbs against the anti-Islam film, leaving several people injured, and causing material damages to houses in the area.          

The injured were taken to hospitals for treatment and were identified as follows:  Nisrine Mahmoud Dawerji, Ahmad Ali Chaaban and Marwa Kassab.           

On Sunday evening Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah called for massive demonstrations in the Dahieh area of Beirut to denounce the "Innocence of Muslims" youtube film.
