Parisians look forward to loosening of lockdown
On a sunny morning in Paris on Saturday (April 25), residents said they were looking forward to the easing of coronavirus lockdown rules next month, though some thought the move would not make much difference to their daily lives.

The government plans to begin to lift restrictions which stop people leaving their homes apart from for necessary trips -- including food shopping and medical appointments -- from May 11 after nearly two months.

Shops will re-open, children will be able to return to school on a voluntary basis and people out of the house will no longer have to carry a signed form justifying their journey or face a fine.

Some shoppers on the rue Montorgueil in central Paris said that since social distancing advice would remain in place, much would remain unchanged from May 11.

Cafes, bars and restaurants, for example, will remain closed.
