PM Diab, Economy Minister meet with delegation of Supermarkets Syndicate over prices hike

Prime Minister Hassan Diab has received, this afternoon at the Grand Serail, the Minister of Economy Raoul Nehmé, accompanied by a delegation of the Syndicate of Supermarkets headed by Dr. Nabil Fahd.

The meeting has touched upon the conditions of the supermarket and consumer markets in Lebanon in light of changes in consumer products prices due to the high dollar exchange rate. The delegation stressed on the sector’s moral, humanitarian and economic commitment to secure citizens’ livelihoods, while maintaining the possibility of securing basic foodstuffs at reasonable prices and reduced profits.

The delegation has further stressed on the necessity of stabilizing the dollar exchange rate, and allocating funds to this sector in hard currency to purchase basic foodstuffs in order to alleviate the burden on citizens and enable them to face the difficult economic crisis that Lebanon is going through.
