Lebanon ready to float Lebanese lira after aid-Minister Wazni to AFP

Minister of Finance Ghazi Wazni said on Friday that Lebanon “is ready to fulfill the request of the International Monetary Fund to float the exchange rate of the Lebanese pound after receiving foreign aid, provided that a flexible exchange rate will be adopted later on."

Wazni’s comments were made during an interview with Agence France Press whereby he noted that the IMF always requests the floating of the currency.

“They want to unify exchange rates and the floating of currency, but the Lebanese government requested a transitional phase before the floating of the currency,” he added.
