Marouni to LBCI: We are confident that March 14 can win majority

MP Elie Marouni said on Saturday that an electoral law cannot be reached by Christians’ agreement, instead it must be reached by Lebanese consensus, noting that any possibility of reaching an agreement among Christians over this issue was blown away.

In an interview with Nharkom Said show, Marouni pointed that even if the Free Patriotic Movement was willing to adopt the proposal of the “Orthodox gathering”, he wouldn’t have adopted the cabinet’s project.

“If the Free Patriotic Movement really wants to improve the Christians’ situation, it is supposed to have a positive position towards the smaller districts draft law during Tuesday’s discussions”, he added.

Accordingly, Marouni expressed his confidence that March 14 alliance is able to win the parliamentary majority in the upcoming elections, noting that “this time, the elections are linked to the fate of each political party and the fate of the whole country”.
