Sentenced to execution for raping his daughter 288 times

The Jordanian Criminal Court has sentenced a Jordanian father to death by hanging, as punishment for repeatedly raping his daughter since she was 11 years of age under the threat of death, a judicial source said.                    

The source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said that the Criminal Court issued a decision to execute the father for raping his 17-year-old daughter since she was eleven years old. He added that "the court in its resolution condemned the accused with rape duplicate 288 times.”

The defendant is aged 49 years, and has been detained since May 2008.                

According to the merits of the case "the defendant raped the victim (his daughter) for the first time when she was 11 years, a virgin, and against her will. He then threatened to kill her if she told anyone.                    

The source continued that, following the delay in her menstrual cycle and upon finding out that she was with child, the girl told her brother who then raised a legal complaint against the father.                

The DNA testing determined the father as the biological parent of the fetus, further convicting the him as the assaulter.               

The decision may be appealed after one month, the source added.
