REPORT: Contract teachers continue their movement

The Lebanese University’s contract teachers continued on Tuesday their strike for the second day and which will last till tomorrow. Today’s strike took place in the Faculty of Science, while Wednesday’s strike will be set near the Baabda Palace and will be held as cabinet convenes.             

The contract teachers say that they "are tired of reiterating the reasons behind their demands to be granted full-time employment," adding that are also "weary of holding strikes while government sweeps their case to the sidelines."                    

Today's strike did not bear huge crowds, as it normally does, and the moral support given by full-time teachers did not have a positive result, since the strike was not mandatory for the Association of full-time teachers and is not supported by the unions.               

As for the students, they are the “scapegoat”, between the teachers’ demands and the government’s hammer, where rights of the contractors and the students remain lost in the midst of bureaucracy and corruption.
