Dispute erupts in Sidon, leads to protests and road blocking

A dispute erupted on Monday night between workers of generators’ owners from Akkawi family and residents in Sidon.

The residents explained that the dispute occurred after a worker employed with the Akkawi family was driving his car recklessly in al-Dalaa Street. The dispute then escalated to a verbal clash, leading the worker to open fire at residents, leaving three injured and causing damage to a number of cars.

In this context, residents blocked several roads in Sidon with burning tires on Tuesday morning, to condemn the incident.

For his part, Mohammad Akkawi denied having any relation with the incident, noting that it was just a dispute between a worker and a number of young men.
