Egyptians mark one year anniversary of Maspero clashes

Coptic Christians and Muslims marched near Egyptian state TV headquarters demanding justice on the one year anniversary of the Maspero Massacre where around 27 people were killed.

Last year, Coptic Christians, later joined by Muslims, marched from a street in Shubra, a predominantly Christian neighborhood in Cairo, to State TV headquarters (Maspeero) protesting an attack on a church in Aswan. Deadly clashes broke out when military troops attempted to break up the demonstration.

Egyptians held posters of the victims, calling for those responsible for the attacks to be held accountable.

Chants for the trial of former Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi reverberated through the crowds.

Egyptian security forces barricaded the street leading to Egypt TV headquarters.
