Public drivers hold strike, rally in several regions

Public drivers held a strike on Wednesday gathering in a number of Lebanese regions upon the call of Lebanon's public transportation unions, to call for setting a fixed price for gasoline and diesel oil. Both the transportation union of north Lebanon and the Lebanese Land Transportation Union boycotted the rally.

For his part, the head of the Public Transportation Drivers Union Marwan Fayyad read a speech from Dora, Beirut, stressing the drivers’ determination to fight for their rights.

“The movement will begin today and may garner further escalation tomorrow," he warned.
