Sheikh Abdul Wahed: To refer Kwaykhat incident to Judicial Council

President Michel Sleiman met with Sheikh Alaa Mohammad Abdul Wahed at the Baabda Palace on Tuesday. The Sheikh thanked the president for his condolences over the death of Sheikh Ahmad Abdul Wahed, stressing that the residents of Akkar stand by the state and the army.

Sheikh Abdul Wahed called on the president to refer the Kwaykhat case to the Judicial Council.

Sheikh Abdul Wahed and his companion Sheikh Mohammad al-Merheb were killed on the 20th of May after failing to stop at an LAF checkpoint while on route to a rally organized by MP Khaled Daher in Halba to commemorate the killing of Future Movement supporters during clashes in 2008.

Thursday 5th of July saw the release of 11 military personnel, including 3 officers, involved in the death of Sheikh Abdul Wahed and his comrade. The three officers released include two captains and a lieutenant.
