REPORT: Sheikh Assir calls for a Lebanese Intifada against ‘Iranian weapons’
A sit-in was held in Saadnayel on Sunday in solidarity with the Syrian people and in condemnation to assassinations in Lebanon upon the invitation of the town’s youth association amid strict security measures.

The town’s officials boycotted the sit in due to the invitation of the Sheikh of Sidon's Imam Bilal bin Rabah mosque Ahmad al-Assir. Protestors held banners condemning “extremism” and signed by Saadnayel’s residents.

The town’s mayor explained the reasons behind the boycott which prompted the army to take exceptional security measures and deploy patrols across the town.

In his speech, Sheikh Assir called on Syrian rebels to be patient and unify their ranks, and condemned the non-state weapons in Lebanon.

Assir called for a Lebanese Intifada to topple ‘Iranian weapons in Lebanon.’
