REPORT: 2nd PRME MENA Regional Forum honors personalities including Daher

The Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK), Faculty of Business Administration and Commercial Sciences launched on Wednesday the 2nd PRME MENA Regional Forum (Middle East and North Africa) under the banner of: “Doing Business Responsibly: When Corporations Become Citizens”.

The opening was held under the patronage of PM Najib Mikati who was represented by the Economy Minister Nicolas Nahhas.

The forum was attended by a crowd of businessmen, educational, social, and environmental figures as well as experts from more than 60 countries.

The conference awarded honorary shields to the Beiteddine Festival Committee’s Chairperson, the Member of the Executive Committee of Al Chouf Cedars Reserve Noura Jumblatt. It also honored the Chief Executive Officer of the National Bank of Kuwait, Ibrahim Dabdoub, Chairman and CEO of the Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation Pierre Daher, and the Vice President of the University of Liege in Belgium Professor Albert Kordahi.

Honorees took to the speakers podium and thanked the organizers on their initiative.

In his speech, Sheikh Pierre Daher said, "it is difficult nowadays to imagine LBCI’s Logo without linking it to social responsibilities," pointing out that news is not necessarily the product of businessmen or politicians.

"News may be centered around children and may be created by women from various social and economic backgrounds or other persons including members of civil societies, employees and employers alike alongside a wider unspecified demographic," Daher continued.

The LBCI CEO concluded saying that the news might be taken from the sidelines of the camera, the virtual world, backgrounds of events, or even their repercussions.

"It is an endless chain that cannot be limited."

The forum was sponsored by the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik, in association with the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME), the American University in Cairo - School of Business and the Arab Society of Faculties of Business, Economics and Political Sciences (BEPS).
