Minieh-Donniyeh deputies send letter to Sleiman to protest Bassil’s practices

MP Nazem al-Kheir sent on Thursday a letter of complaint on behalf of Minieh-Donniyeh MPs to President Michel Sleiman after Minister Gebran Bassil “appointed people to fill in fake administrative positions in companies throughout the Tripoli and Zahrani areas,” as they said.

According to the letter’s content, "it is widely known that Tripoli and Zahrani oil refineries have been out of order for decades," and so the MPs expressed surprise when they received information about Minister Bassil appointing people in fake administrative positions.

Kheir added that the wages proposed are high and do not commensurate with the wages of civil servants, noting that “Bassil’s behavior proves that this minister continues to waste public funds for personal interests and the interests of the party to which he belongs, without taking into consideration the public good.”

The letter mentioned that Bassil is taking advantage of his position in order to run for the upcoming parliamentary elections, calling on President Sleiman to act and end the practices of the Energy Minister.

“It is clear that the cabinet’s mission is to distribute quotas, therefore we ask the President to put an end to such practices,” the letter concluded.
