Mikati: The more people stuck to their land the stronger their sense of belonging gets

Prime Minister Najib Mikati said Saturday that the government is taking care of the development sectors such as industry and agriculture as much as service sectors.

During a ceremony held for agricultural bodies in Lebanon, Mikati stressed that recent and old experiences showed that our land is losing its identity and history, adding “the more people stuck to their land, the stronger their sense of belonging to the nation gets.”

“The experiences of the residents of south Lebanon who showed high resilience in the face of bombs planted by Israel are the best proof of their will to stay [in their towns and villages]”, he said.

In turn, Minister of Agriculture Hussain El Hajj Hassan said that hundreds of laws, decrees and decisions have been issued and hundreds of cadres including agricultural engineers, veterinarians and technicians at the Ministry of Agriculture have been employed, trained and rehabilitated. “This boosted the capacities of the ministry and raised its budget,” he said.
