REPORT: Suffocating traffic jam block Beirut's northern entrance, LAF Command apologizes

 
Beirut's northern entrances witnessed on Tuesday morning a suffocating gridlock due to military exercises conducted by the LAF in preparation for the army parade on the occasion of the Independence Day [22 Nov. 2012].                           

At 6:30 am traffic was diverted to four axes:                             

-From Ibn Sina street towards Phoenicia Tunnel.                        

-From George Haddad tunnel towards Gemayze and Kataeb House-Saifi.                    

-From Lebanese expatriate's statue towards Saifi.              

-From Monroe Hotel towards Saint George.

Traffic also affected the Hrawi highway towards Hotel Dieu, Sassine Square.                

The exercises lasted till noon, with traffic said to resume “normalcy” soon after.

Consequently the LAF command apologized for the trouble it has caused citizens due to military exercises. Said it will send a representative to talk to passengers in the Beirut International airport who were also delayed as a result.
