Jordan postpones municipal elections

The Jordanian cabinet decided on Monday to postpone the municipal elections, expected to be held mid-March, for another six months, according to a Jordanian official source.              

The Jordanian News Agency reported that during a session held on Monday morning under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister Abdallah al-Nassour the cabinet decided to postpone the municipal elections across the kingdom for six months starting from March 14, 2013.

The agency added that this decision was agreed upon due to the requirements of the public interests and to preserve the integrity of the elections.
