SCC takes to the streets, once again

The demonstration called for by the Syndicates Coordination Committee (SCC) under the title: “To express anger and condemnation”, kicked off on Wednesday, from al-Barbir Square towards the Grand Serail, to protest the non-referral of the pay scale to the Parliament.                         

Head of the Private School Teachers Association Nehme Mahfoud addressed SCC protesters saying: “We can no longer handle any delay in referring the new wage scale to the parliament”, calling for holding weekly rallies until the cabinet meets their demands.          

He said that the cabinet's performance will only make them escalate their measures, noting that they will remain in the streets and boycott the upcoming elections if their demands are not met.            

“For those who are concerned about the students' affairs we tell them that we are keener on protecting them,” he added.             

For his part, Head of Public Secondary School Education Teachers Association Hanna Gharib said that the cabinet chose to challenge and confront the syndicate committees through launching an open battle. He reiterated his call for urgently referring the pay scale to the Parliament refusing payment installments and stressing the need preserving the rights of every citizen without exception.
