Mikati: dialogue is Lebanese parties' only choice

Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati said on Thursday that Lebanese parties have no choice other than engaging in dialogue or otherwise face internal strife that would lead to nothing but a "vacant victory" for the "winning" party.

During the launching ceremony of a project on planting 40 million trees, Mikati stressed the importance of the dialogue as the only way to reach agreement, noting that the opposition must be constructive. He added that the current situation prevailing over the country needs rationalization of the political practice and agreement over the dialogue table, pointing that national talks should not take place via street power.

For his part, Agriculture Minister Hussein Hajj Hassan hopes to bring back Lebanon's green character; noting that the project of planting millions of trees is an ambitious project which will take place over 12 to 20 years.
