REPORT: New bid to build two new power plants

Following the deal of the power ship suppliers which are expected to arrive to Lebanon next April, the Energy Ministry placed a new bid to build two new power plants in Zook and al-Jiyeh next to the existing plants.

In this context, Energy Minister Gebran Bassil told LBCI that administrative measures are to be adopted in his ministry and other ministries, noting that the contract stipulates the establishment of a plant within 15 months and another within 18 months.

Bassil pointed that these two pants operate by generators, fuel and gas with a cost of USD 350 million and produce 272 Megawatts, stressing that the situation of the electricity in the country is improving, but a 24/24 supply should not be expected before 2014 or 2015, according to the plan.
