Car thief arrested on Jounieh highway

The Directorate General of the Internal Security Forces declared on Wednesday that, on the 24th of December 2012, a citizen owning a dark red Honda Accord with a registration plate number 249381/J reported to the operation room of Mount Lebanon region that her car had been stolen by an unknown assailant from outside her home in the city of Jbeil, al-Ramle Street.             

The descriptions of the stolen vehicle were circulated to all the patrols, in coordination with the ISF Directorate General and the regional gendarmerie. The vehicle was detected in the region of Keserwan by a security patrol which chased it on the Jounieh Highway, leading to the subsequent arrest of the thief who was identified as 30-year-old Lebanese citizen F. Y. It was later revealed that the detainee was a felon who is also wanted on charges of beating, abuse and arms possession.             

The car was delivered to its owner, while the detainee was transferred to the International Anti-Theft Crime Office of the judicial police for investigation.
