Roknabadi presents Iranian initiative to Aoun, Mikati and Bishop Mattar

Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Ghazanfar Roknabadi met on Friday PM Najib Mikati, the head of Change and Reform Bloc MP Michel Aoun and Bishop Boulos Matar.

Roknabadi presented to PM Mikati a copy of the Iranian initiative which is made up of 6 articles related to the Syrian crisis.

The articles of the initiative include the cessation of violence and restoring calm in Syria in light of a comprehensive dialogue that includes representatives of both the opposition and pro-government forces in addition to releasing all political prisoners and delivering humanitarian aid to all Syrians.

During his meeting with the Maronite bishop of Beirut Boulos Matar, Ambassador Roknabadi said that the Islamic Republic of Iran previously helped, and will keep on helping those who fight against Israel.

Ambassador Roknabadi also met with MP Michel Aoun whereby he discussed with him the Iranian initiative.

It is worth noting that the Syrian Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Abdel Karim Ali also met with MP Aoun at his residence in Rabieh whereby he hoped that none of the Lebanese political parties would interfere in the Syrian crisis.
