Shatah to LBCI: All we need is a serious and productive dialogue

Former Finance Minister Mohammad Shatah stressed the need to hold a real, serious and productive dialogue adding that the issue of Hezbollah’s weapons must be solved, "because these arms cause the weakening of the State and expose it to many risks."

In an interview to Nharkom Said, Shatah called for a real discussion for confessional guarantees through a “confessional senate”, in order to protect the Lebanese democracy.

He also called for implementing the administrative decentralization, “so that each citizen feels that he is responsible for the development of his region.”

On the other hand, Shatah called for freezing the relations and agreements signed between Lebanon and Syria, "since they contradict with the self-distancing policy", noting that this step could protect Lebanon after the fall of the Syrian regime.
