Nasrallah delivers speech, commemorates 40th Day of Imam Hussein's Martyrdom

Hezbollah’s Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah delivered a speech  on Thursday for the occasion of the anniversary of the 40th Day of Imam Hussein's Martyrdom.

Addressing various members of Lebanese society, Nasrallah called on people to sustain Lebanon’s unity and reject all attempts at division. “Lebanon is too small to be divided,” he said.

“All the Lebanese people are requested to preserve the country’s unity and the unity of its institutions.”

The Hezbollah top man added that the region is witnessing a highly tumultuous phase with the threat of sedition looming on the horizon.

“The most dangerous peril facing us mainly is the project to re-divide the region.”

There may be a difference in visions pertaining to solving current crises, however these conflicting visions should not yield further fractions and fighting, he added.

"If other party were in power,it would've thrown the country into internal conflict and ventured for an imminent face-off with Syria."

On the issue of displaced Syrians, Nasrallah said that the case-file must dealt with from a non-politicized humanitarian perspective, adding that the borders will not be closed.

"Lebanon must develop its political stance by exerting more pressure towards a political solution in Syria. A real solution  would be  by addressing the root cause and by stopping the war in Syria so that Syrian refugees can return to their land," he said.

Separately, Nasrallah called on the relatives of the Lebanese abductees in Syria to place their bets on the Lebanese government and have faith that results would be yielded.

"The case of Lebanese abductees is being used by the media and for political means; I urge the Lebanese state to negotiate directly with the abductors. If state finds itself unable to solve Lebanese abductees case,it should inform their relatives and political parties, including us."

On Lebanon's offshore oil and gas reserves, the Hezbollah Secretary General said that they present "a great hope for the country and for the Lebanese people," declaring that in case Lebanon was able to benefit from the gas and oil reserves, the case of the ranks and salaries scale, among others, will no longer be an issue.
