Ghanem to LBCI: Sub-parliamentary elections committee is not a decision-making body

MP Robert Ghanem confirmed on Friday that he will be chairing the sub-parliamentary committee tasked with discussing the electoral law, adding “the committee is not a decision-making body but an advisory body; sessions will be open to new ideas and new solutions.”

In an interview with Nharkom Said, Ghanem hoped that all parties will share a common interest to reach a consensual law, adding “the only concern is reaching common grounds accepted by all parties.”

Ghanem stressed that the committee will first rely on the draft law submitted by the government to pave the way for a solution “because Lebanon is heading towards a difficult phase due to increasing incidents sweeping through the region”.
