Jumblatt says world powers ignoring Syria's systematic ruin

World powers are abandoning Syria to be "systematically destroyed" by a civil war which has already wrecked whole cities in a once-great Arab nation, Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblatt said.             

Jumblatt accused the world powers of being "indifferent" and of fabricating a conspiracy, noting that these powers which are divided regarding the Syrian uprising did not express any rush in ending the bloodshed.             

In this context, Jumblatt called on foreign countries to deploy further efforts to help opposition fighters conquer President Bashar Assad and prevent Syria from being divided.

In a statement to Reuters News Agency, the PSP leader said that if the civil war in Syria continues and lasts longer, the Syrian people will sustain further losses and will face further sufferings.              

Commenting on Assad's speech delivered on Sunday, Jumblatt stressed that the Syrian president is in a state of complete denial, pointing that Assad repeated the same statements he launched in 2011.                  

"Nothing has changed, except that the death toll was then around 2000, while now it has reached around 60 thousand and the majority of the Syrian people lived in their houses and protested peacefully," he added.
