REPORT: Town of Qobayyat prepares to welcome George Abdallah

At the beginning of next week, the town of Qobayyat in Akkar will be welcoming the freed prisoner George Ibrahim Abdallah after being forcibly held for three decades.

George Abdallah’s return to his country will not be ordinary, as celebrations are being prepared at Beirut International Airport and all the way to his house in Qobayyat, where his family awaits the return of the “struggler prisoner”.

In this context, George Abdallah’s brother Robert told LBCI that “George is a lovable and sociable person, and he helped everyone without discrimination,” noting that the joy of releasing him reunited all the people, regardless of their political affiliations.

For her part, George’s sister Amal Abdallah said that “it is true that they are very happy, but many wounds remain as her mother died of sorrow for being unable to see her son.”
