Syrian refugees in Lebanon receive assistance from Iran and Saudi Arabia

Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour held a meeting which included Interior Minister Marwan Charbel, Finance Minister Mohammad Safadi, Justice Minister Shakib Qortbawi and Social Affairs Minister Wael Abou Faour to discuss the draft convention between Lebanon and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). Mansour also met with the UNHCR representative in Lebanon Ninette Kelley and discussed with her means to provide the Syrian refugees with help.        

In this context, the UNHCR received at Beirut Port the first batch of Iranian assistance sent for the Syrian and Palestinian refugees, in the presence of the Iranian ambassador to Lebanon Ghazanfar Roknabadi. The Iranian assistance included ten thousand shares out of thirty thousand, which will arrive respectively, consisting of food, provisions, blankets and cleaning products, set to be distributed to thirty thousand Syrian and Palestinian families displaced in Lebanon.             

In Ersal, the Saudi National Campaign to Support Brothers in Syria distributed 6800 blankets to around 1700 Syrian families who found refuge in Bekaa. The campaign will be also distributing further provisions later on.               

However, at the Eagle Club in Sed El Bauchrieh, the Syriac League held a gathering in solidarity with the Christian Syrian refugees, who were complaining that the foreign embassies were not responding to their requests for expatriation to Europe and America.
