Sleiman, Mikati attend mass on occasion of St. Maroun's day

Lebanese President Michel Sleiman and Prime Minister Najib Mikati attended on Saturday the Mass headed by Beirut Maronite Bishop Boulos Matar on the occasion of St. Maroun's day, the patron saint of the Maronite community.

During the mass sermon, Bishop Boulos Mattar called for fighting division and hatred and urged the Lebanese people to enhance coexistence.

A group of Republican Guard greeted Sleiman upon his arrival.

When asked about Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Beshara Boutros Rai’s visit to Syria and its timing, President Michel Sleiman said that this issue should not be politicized, stressing that Rai and the Greek Orthodox Patriarch Youhanna X Yazigi are responsible of all the Christians of the Orient.

Rai is expected to visit Syria on Sunday to participate in the appointment ceremony of Yazigi.
