Sleiman calls for finding an electoral law which represents everyone

President Michel Sleiman called for finding an electoral law which represents all parties and brings them together instead of tearing them apart. He stressed the importance of enshrining the Lebanese formula which, according to him, has become mandatory for pluralist societies.    

Sleiman’s statements came during his meeting with Displaced Minister Alaa Eddine Terro, the Ministry’s director general Ahmad Hammoud, the president of the Central Fund for the Displaced, Fadi Aramouni and a delegation from the town of Brih at Baabda Palace.   

Sleiman welcomed the delegation, praising the efforts exerted with MP Walid Jumblatt and the seriousness of Minister Terro in following up on the issue of the displaced. “Joint cooperation with Prime Minister Najib Mikati and National Struggle Front leader MP Walid Jumblatt aims at preventing clashes and political polarizations in addition to keeping the domestic Lebanese scene in the safe zone,” he said.     

Sleiman voiced his happiness at the reconciliations and happy endings reached in Brih, pointing out that this reminded everyone that “Lebanon will remain the real model of unity and coexistence with its message and sects, especially in Chouf.”       

“I hope the issue of the displaced will be solved by spring.”
