Two explosions and shooting were heard on Monday outside the office of a senior government official in the northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar, a Reuters witness said.

Officials said they feared casualties in the attack on the compound of top political official Muttahirzeb Khan.

Earlier, the spokesman of UN Secretary General‚ Martin Nesirky said that the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon had strongly condemned the blast that killed 81 persons in Quetta and called on authorities to take immediate measures in this regard.

The spokesman added that the Secretary General noted that this is the second attack against the Shiite community in Quetta in the last few weeks and called for swift and determined action against those claiming responsibility.
