Iran Parliament Speaker says three clauses of proposal violated; bilateral ceasefire or talks “illogical” under current conditions

Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said that three key provisions of a proposed ten-point framework—intended as the basis for upcoming negotiations—have already been violated before talks begin.

Ghalibaf said the deep historical distrust toward the United States stems from its repeated breaches of commitments, calling it a pattern that has been repeated once again.

He added that, as previously stated by the U.S. president, Iran’s ten-point proposal constitutes a “negotiable basis” and the main framework for the talks. However, he said three clauses have been breached so far:

* Failure to uphold the first clause concerning a ceasefire in Lebanon, which he noted was also explicitly referenced by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who had called for an “immediate ceasefire everywhere, including Lebanon and other areas, to take effect immediately”;
* The entry of a hostile drone into Iranian airspace, which he said was shot down over the city of Lar in Fars province, in violation of a clause prohibiting further airspace breaches;
* Denial of Iran’s right to uranium enrichment, which he said is stipulated in the sixth clause of the framework.

Ghalibaf concluded that the “negotiable basis” has been clearly and explicitly violated even before negotiations have begun.
