Kassar from Baabda: To maintain best relations with Arab countries

The head of the economic bodies, former Minister Adnan Kassar stressed on Thursday the need to maintain the best relations with the Arab countries, especially the Gulf States, “given the effects and precautions that we will have to face in case of any decision taken by these states towards Lebanon, whether it was on the economic level, or concerning the Lebanese nationals working in the Gulf.”

Following his meeting with President Michel Sleiman, Kassar noted that he confirmed to the President the importance of holding the elections according to the date set by the Constitution and according to a new electoral law agreed upon by all the Lebanese factions. In this context, he called for ending the political tension and controlling the security chaos, in order to preserve stability and to prevent Lebanon and the people from being dragged into further troubles.

Accordingly, Kassar pointed out that stability in Lebanon is a red line, adding that criminals should not be protected.

On the other hand, Sleiman discussed the general situation and latest development while meeting with Ministers Wael Abou Faour and Salim Jreissati, and MP Mohammad al-Hajjar.

In this context, Sleiman hoped that the ongoing discussions aiming at reaching a modern electoral law will succeed.
