Peres: Hezbollah interferes in Syria without government’s authorization

Israeli President Shimon Peres urged on Thursday on the EU to brand Hezbollah as a terrorist group, while failing to do so will only encourage it to develop its operations.

Peres said that Hezbollah, which the EU has so far declined to put on a list of international terrorist groups, has been directly interfering in Syria and fighting against rebels, without government’s authorization.

"If you do not take measures against Hezbollah, then they may think that they are permitted to do what they like,” he said following a meeting with head of European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso.
