Zasypkin: Russia seeks peaceful solution for Syrian crisis

The Russian Ambassador to Lebanon Alexander Zasypkin stressed that Russia is working on maintaining stability in the region amid an unstable situation, noting that the Russian navy is permanently present in the Mediterranean sea, and that Moscow is trying to prevent the Syrian crisis from moving toward other countries. He added that his country supports the political solution as a sole mean to resolve the conflict, reiterating its refusal to any military intervention in the case.

During a meeting with a delegation from the Lebanese Army Command which visited on Friday the Russian ships docked in the port of Beirut, Zasypkin said that the Russian presence is a factor to preserve stability in a region which is witnessing many conflicts and tensions, stressing that Russia is seeking peaceful solutions using its military and political capabilities.

The Russian ships had arrived to Lebanon two days ago transporting supplies, before continuing their mission across the Mediterranean Sea.
