Jumblatt: 1960s law remains in effect until a new settlement is reached

The head of the National Struggle Front MP Walid Jumblatt said on Monday that “among the priorities of the new cabinet is to restore the dissociation policy toward the growing Syrian crisis.”

In his weekly statement to al-Anbaa Daily, Jumblatt pointed out that the 60s electoral law remains in effect until a new electoral settlement upon which the elections will be held is reached, stressing his commitment to staging this constitutional process on time.

On the other hand, Jumblatt praised PM-designate Tammam Salam's call for a “cabinet of national interest”, urging all political powers to facilitate the PM’s mission "by putting an end to their impossible conditions," in order to prevent a repeat previous mistakes.
